Paediatric patients at Bendigo Health are set to benefit from improved care thanks to simulation training funded through the Good Friday Appeal.

Funding received from the 2024 Good Friday Appeal Grants Program, has enabled Bendigo Health to extend its focus on continuous improvement and clinician skill development through a successful paediatric simulation program.

Bendigo Health's Paediatric and Adult Emergency Medicine Consultant, Dr Annelise Staples, led the project which aimed to see clinicians work collaboratively together between disciplines.

“Training programs such as these are crucial for improving patient care by providing a safe environment for healthcare professionals to practice skills, refine decision-making and enhance teamwork. It helps us develop strong professional and emotional bonds between care givers of the paediatrics patients in our hospital.” Dr Staples said.

The program implemented a range of monthly multidisciplinary paediatric simulation program, allowing staff from our Emergency Medicine, ICU, Paediatrics and Anaesthetics to incorporate skill practice and development, system testing and applying best practice clinical guidelines as standard of care.
